“Four thousand dollars a week, per location,” Chloe repeated, turning to the jury. “Across Vanguard\u2019s twenty casinos, that\u2019s over four million dollars a year. Stolen. Not from efficiency, Mr. Croft. From the pockets of the people cleaning your hotel rooms and serving your drinks. Did you, or did you not, intentionally configure the software to break federal labor law?”<\/span><\/div>\n

“I… I was just following the vendor’s recommendations,” Croft stammered, looking desperately at Elias Thorne.<\/span><\/div>\n

“The vendor’s recommendations,” Chloe said, her voice ringing like a bell. “No further questions, Your Honor.”<\/span><\/div>\n

As Chloe walked back to her seat, she caught Elias Thorne\u2019s eye. The billionaire\u2019s bored expression was gone, replaced by a look of pure, unadulterated venom. Chloe just smiled and sat down. She had him.<\/span><\/div>\n
