<\/p>\nHeading into the July 4 long weekend, President Donald Trump shared a late-night social media post slamming some his biggest celebrity critics as suffering from the imaginary \u201cTrump Derangement Syndrome.\u201d In an AI video posted on Trump\u2019s Truth Social account just before midnight Wednesday, the president is dressed as \u201cDr. Trump\u201d and, in the soothing tones of a pharmaceutical ad, he claims to \u201chave a treatment plan\u201d for those suffering from \u201cTrump Derangement Syndrome.\u201d The clip then presents fake testimonials from Rosie O\u2019Donnell, \u201cThe View\u201d co-host Whoopi Goldberg and Robert De Niro who describe their \u201cTDS\u201d symptoms. Also featured as purported TDS suffers are AI-generated versions of Julia Roberts, John Leguizamo and Edward Norton.<\/p>\n

Trump appears to believe that \u201cTDS\u201d is a real medical condition, saying at a May event at the White House that \u201cI\u2019m hearing it is actually a disease\u201d (via Mediaite). After\u00a0Rob Reiner and his wife Michele were murdered\u00a0last December,\u00a0Trump wrote in a post on Truth Social that the director and actor had died \u201creportedly due to the anger he caused others through his massive, unyielding, and incurable affliction with a mind crippling disease known as TRUMP DERANGEMENT SYNDROME, sometimes referred to as TDS.\u201d In the fake \u201cDr. Trump\u201d video, an AI-generated O\u2019Donnell says, \u201cI have been suffering for over a decade and after listening to Dr. Trump, I can see some results.\u201d The fake De Niro says, \u201cI had no idea how much this was affecting my life. My work has slowed down. I\u2019m hardly recognizable anymore. I just needed help. I couldn\u2019t eat. I couldn\u2019t sleep. Constantly angry. I made everyone miserable around me.\u201d<\/p>\n
Roberts\u2019 AI avatar says in the video, \u201cI feel like I\u2019ve aged 20 years in the last two years\u201d and says she had begun to \u201cworry about her future.\u201d<\/p>\n
What is the cure for TDS? Here\u2019s what Dr. Trump says in the video\u2019s kicker: \u201cTurn off fake news. Say your prayers and, if you ever feel anxious, just have a Diet Coke like me and you\u2019re gonna see a remarkable difference in your life.\u201d<\/p>\n
Trump routinely posts AI-generated images and videos. That included one this spring showing him as\u00a0a Christ-like figure healing a sick man\u00a0\u2014 a post that was subsequently deleted \u2014 which\u00a0Trump told reporters he thought depicted him as a doctor:<\/p>\n
Trump\u2019s social account also has shared an AI image of himself\u00a0dressed as the Pope\u00a0and one\u00a0depicting himself as Superman and other associates as DC superheroes. In October 2025, the president shared a video showing\u00a0him\u00a0Trump as a king in a fighter jet dropping a huge payload of feces on \u201cNo Kings\u201d protesters\u00a0in New York City.<\/p>\n
And this February, Trump posted an AI video that\u00a0portrayed Barack and Michelle Obama as apes, excerpted from a \u201cLion King\u201d-themed meme. After the White House initially defended the post as satire, the video in question was deleted after a backlash including from some Republicans. Trump did not apologize for posting the racist video,\u00a0telling reporters, \u201cI liked the beginning. I saw it and just passed it on, and I guess probably nobody reviewed the end of it.\u201d<\/p>\n
