<\/p>\nWASHINGTON \u2014 President Donald Trump said on Thursday that something should \u200bbe done to stop mail-in voting in Utah ahead of the state’s primaries next week. “It seems as though the Great State of Utah, \u200cwhich I won each time, and handily, is going to the All Mail In Ballot format \u2060of Colorado, and the rest, that \u200balways head LEFT, as soon as \u2060the move is made,” Trump wrote on Truth Social. He added, “We should stop \u200cUtah from doing this.” Utah \u200cand Colorado are among fewer than a dozen U.S. states that \u2060allow all elections to be conducted entirely \u2060by mail, according to the National Conference of State Legislatures.<\/p>\n

The Republican president said, without evidence, that mail-in ballots would provide Democrats an opportunity to cheat. Utah’s Lt. Gov. Deidre Henderson, a Republican who oversees elections in the state, said more than 90% of voters in the state choose to \u200cvote by mail, which she describes as secure. “Since \u200bimplementing vote by mail, Utah has gone from having one of the lowest voter participation rates in the country to one of the highest,” Henderson said. “As Utah has demonstrated, HOW you vote doesn’t change who you vote for, it simply makes you a better voter.”<\/p>\n
The state’s Democratic Party said it opposes any federal effort to roll back vote-by-mail in Utah, \u200bcalling Trump’s comments “insulting” to residents of the state.<\/p>\n
Trump, who himself\u00a0voted by mail earlier \u200cthis year, has \u200crepeatedly taken \u2060issue with mail-in ballots.<\/p>\n
In March, he signed an executive order tightening rules on mail-in voting nationwide, including directing his administration to compile a list of confirmed U.S. citizens eligible to vote in each state.<\/p>\n
Trump directed the U.S. Justice Department last \u200cmonth to investigate what \u200bhe alleged was an “illegal” move by Maryland \u200cto send out 500,000 \u2060mail-in ballots, a \u200bclaim that was rejected by state officials.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

Giorgia Meloni\u00a0has fired back at\u00a0Donald Trump’s claim that she “begged” him for a photo at the G7 Summit.<\/p>\n
On Friday, June 19, the Italian Prime Minister denounced the United States president’s claim that she’d urged him to take a photo with her during this week’s G7 Summit as “completely fabricated.” In a video\u00a0shared to X, Meloni conveyed both her and Italy’s offense to Trump’s claims.<\/p>\n
\u201cI am frankly stunned,\u201d she said in Italian. \u201cI don’t know why the president of the United States behaves this way toward his own allies. After all, this isn’t the first time this has happened.\u201d<\/p>\n \u201cI can only say it is regrettable that he does not show the same determination against the enemies of the West and the United States\u2014against leaderships with whom he actually proves to be much more accommodating,” she continued.<\/p>\n \u201cThere is one thing he must remember,” Meloni concluded. “Neither I nor Italy ever beg.”<\/p>\n The Italian Prime Minister’s rebuke comes after Trump told Italian broadcaster La7 that Meloni “begged me to take a photo with her \u2014\u00a0I could have skipped it, but I felt sorry for her,”\u00a0NBC News reported. He added, “She’s probably happy I talked to her. I didn’t have to talk to her.”<\/p>\n Meloni wasn’t the only Italian politician apparently offended by Trump’s comments. Just before the prime minister posted the video on social media, Italian Foreign Minister Antonio Tajani\u00a0shared on X\u00a0that he was canceling his planned trip to the U.S. this weekend.<\/p>\n In the statement, Tajani noted that the U.S. president had angered Italy as a whole.<\/p>\n “President Trump’s serious and offensive remarks about Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni offend all of Italy,” Tajani wrote. “For this reason, I have decided to cancel my visit to the United States scheduled for June 21st and 22nd.”<\/p>\n There’s a history of friction between Trump and Meloni, especially in recent years.
